A Dream

Biography: Ricky Ma is a multidisciplinary creator who bridges the worlds of art and technology. A Canadian citizen with roots in Hong Kong, he single-handedly built the internationally renowned humanoid robot, Mark 1. His work has been widely featured by global media such as Thomson Reuters, BBC, CNN, and CTV, and has been exhibited in cities including Toronto, Moscow, and Hong Kong. Ricky's artistic practice merges visual design, narrative expression, and interactive engineering to explore the emotional and philosophical dimensions of human–machine relationships.

As of 2025, he remains the first and only known individual in the world to independently create a highly lifelike humanoid robot. This unprecedented achievement places him in a truly irreplaceable position within the field of robotic art, exemplifying the singular power of personal, self-driven creation.

Operating through a small independent creative studio, Ricky continues to develop robotic art with flexibility and artistic purity. He believes that the future of art is not confined to canvas or sculpture, but may emerge as sentient forms capable of perception and dialogue. His project, MechaArt Nexus, extends this vision—using robots as cultural conduits that connect art, audience, and time.
